Day 15. Confessing to Clark
Sometimes you have to spend money to make money, Prudence assured herself as she began a novel on her new computer.
She’d settled for an older desktop model out of desperation–she was desperate to write again, but it was too hard to find the time to visit the library in between Arthur’s feedings and keeping him happy and changed. She couldn’t afford a sitter.
Prudence was writing a novel that some might call…trashy. But she didn’t care, as long as it made some money. She titled it Mr. Wrong Doesn’t Make it Right, and based it on some of her experiences with Xander. She was thankful for the bedroom experience he’d provided when it came time to write the love scenes.
She couldn’t seem to get enough sleep, because she hadn’t had a full night’s rest since baby Arthur arrived. As eager as she was to make some real progress on her book, she couldn’t neglect her baby or her garden. She pushed herself to her physical limits, waiting too long to eat or sleep.
After a particularly nice nap, Prudence decided that it was time to let Clark know about Arthur. She called to invite him over and was relieved when he agreed to come almost immediately.
Her relief was short-lived, however, when he arrived and looked at Arthur in wordless surprise.
“When did this happen?” he asked, aghast.
“I uh…I was seeing someone.” Prudence said lamely. “But he’s out of the picture now.”
“You had a baby, and you didn’t tell me? I can see how close we are now….how unimportant I am to you!” Clark said angrily.
“Listen, I know I should have told you when I found out that I was pregnant, but I was scared of losing you as a friend! Please don’t do this to me….I had such a bad experience with Arthur’s father–I really can’t bear to lose you too.” Prudence stammered.
“I just thought we were…close. This changes everything.” Clark said.
“I wish it didn’t–I enjoy spending time with you, and I don’t see why that has to change. Look, do you want something to drink? I need some juice.” Prudence said, heading toward the fridge.
She had nearly made it to the fridge when Clark’s long stride brought him to her. He folded her into his arms and pressed her into his body.
“I’m sorry. I overreacted. I’m just not used to thinking of you as a mother. It was just a shock.” Clark mumbled. Prudence was shocked, too. She couldn’t believe that Clark was this close to her, and even more unbelievable was the way her body responded to his proximity.
You just had a child by one man–you shouldn’t be thinking about crawling into bed with another! Prudence lectured herself.
Clark was clearly affected as well. He leaned back just enough to look at her face, and his hands slid from her back to cup the sides of her face.
“Prudence….” he whispered. His eyes were searching hers, and Prudence had the feeling that he was waiting for permission.
And she gave it to him. Prudence leaned in and kissed him, and Clark’s hands dropped from her face in surprise.
After a moment, Prudence leaned in and whispered a question to Clark.
“Would you like to stay the night?” she asked.
Clark thought that was a great idea.
When they reached her bed, Clark pulled back.
“Pru….I just want you to know that you don’t have to….we don’t have to….” Clark began, but was shushed by Prudence leaning in to kiss him.
“I want to. Now.” she said.
So they did.

Yay! I like this couple! But since it’s only guy #2 they probably wont end up together… =[
Amyjobee: He is a service sim, and thus eligible to be her husband–but I’d have to explain a lot of infidelity early on (I’ll have to explain it anyway, later–she has to marry by child N). But I have a soft spot for the grumpy Clark Sauer myself….
Oh, gosh – I wonder if she’ll get pregnant again, so soon after Arthur!
I kind of like Clark too – he’s growing on me. He’s better than that useless Xander anyway!
Carla: My lips are sealed for now about whether she’s pregnant or not.
Clark seems to be better than Xander, though he has some amazing mood swings. At first, he was not at all receptive to Prudence’s advances–she had to bring their friendship meter up higher before he’d start responding to her flirting.
Aww, they are cute. She pulls the greatest facial expressions.
Rad: I’m very lucky with her facial expressions.
LOL at Clark thought that was a great idea, but oh my, I hope he misfires!
But you’re right they are cute together. I especially like the first kiss picture. She looks all lovely and prim and slim again (Wish it was that easy in real life!)
Moondaisy: My lips are sealed on the score of whether or not he misfired.
They are indeed cute together. It goes against my natural inclinations to have her go from one guy to the next without her being a heartbreaker or something, but I knew it would make for a challenge. The real challenge is figuring out how to balance everything with her as a single mom. I may have to cave in and marry her off just so she can get some support (financial and with childcare).
I’m interested to see how Arthur grows up with the havoc his mother will soon be wrecking on the men of Sunset Valley. Way to go Prudence, hopefully Clarke is her next conquest!
Tipix: I imagine Arthur will have to take on a lot of responsibility as soon as he’s a teen…but he’ll be free once he’s a young adult.
Prudence’s facial expressions are perfect!
She and Clark are adorable together, I’m excited for baby #2 and to see what Arthur looks like as a toddler. Poor Prudence is only going to get more and more exhausted the poor dear :/
Nessva: I really lucked out with her face….just playing around with sliders and stuff, and I got exactly what I wanted (that usually doesn’t happen).
I like the Clark-Prudence combination, too…it’s unfortunate that the challenge makes it difficult to keep him around (it’s going to be hard enough to spin her cheating on her future husband for at least 13 of the pregnancies, much less 24…geez).
She’s never going to get a full night’s rest again, I think…..I feel so mean, lol.
